 Shave for a Cure 2018
14 February 2018
Dear Parents, Carers, Extended Families and Friends of BMSS,
Once again BMSS will be supporting the Leukaemia Foundation’s World’s Greatest Shave during the month of March. This year we are aiming higher than ever before and with your help, we invite you onboard our Shave Train as we hope to steam past our 2017 record of $13,415.55. Activities on Crazy Hair Day (Fri 16 March) include:
  • Every student is invited to make a donation to come to school in free dress with crazy hair for a gold coin.
  • Students may get their hair coloured before school by our volunteers for an additional $2 (strictly 7.50am to 8.25am only).
  • In the weeks leading up to the ‘Big Event’, Student Leaders will be selling raffle tickets for a chance to help the hairdresser shave Mr. Simpson’s head. This year, the principal has “Jumped On” and is leading the way – all the way to Gauge One! Tickets will be $1 each and available outside the school office.
  • You can help choose a hilarious wig for Mr. King to wear at school on Crazy Hair Day. We have a few to pick from – cast your vote for $1. Vote as many times as you like. See the Student Leaders in front of the school office for your chance to vote.
  • During Week 8, members of the Student Council will be collecting “Spare Change” donations to add to our school team’s overall total.  Every little bit helps!
  • A ‘Shave-Off’ Mega-Disco will be held from 1.15pm (after Second Break Eating) in the BMSS Hall to support our ‘Brave Shavers’. Watch our courageous volunteers shave and colour their hair for this fantastic cause while we listen and dance to great music. Parents are welcome to attend the Mega-Disco for a gold coin donation (please feel free to donate more to this worthy cause).
Mums, Dads, Kids, Families - Why Not Join the BMSS Team? Be Brave and Shave!
Students require their parents’ permission to join the BMSS Team and should complete a permission form available from Ms. Heron at the school office. Parents and Family Members are welcome to join our team as well. Simply visit the link below and join our team – then your total adds to the school total. Jump on board to help us “Steam Past” our record from 2017!
Your donations help the Leukaemia Foundation provide free services to support people with leukaemia, lymphoma, myeloma and other blood disorders, and their families, as well as research to improve blood cancer treatments and find cures.

If you wish to support the school and the Leukaemia Foundation with a more substantial donation please use this link to our personal fundraising page:
Thank you in advance for your support.  Please note, the date outlined on the school calendar has changed from Week 7.  The major event will now take place Friday 16 March (Week 8).
